To whom it may concern,
We, as non-governmental organizations that came together to raise the voice of the conscience of the times, object to the persecution of Rohingya people living in the province of Arakan. We are anxiously pursuing the transformation of the ignoring the Rohingya people, one of the main inhabitants of Arakan for many years, into a systematic deportation and genocide. We urge the United Nations and the international community to act to find an immediate solution to this problem stemming from discourse of hatred and denial. We demand concrete steps to solve the problem in the direction of the UN’s former Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s Arakan report.
- An urgent humanitarian corridor must be established for the Rohingya people, who are fighting for life.
- Rohingya people must be allowed to return to their countries they have been deported.
- The Myanmar government must pay compensation for the material and spiritual losses of the Rohingya people who were banished to death.
- Rohingya people must be given equal citizenship rights, human rights, right to believe and right to live at their own discretion must be secured immediately.
- The necessary arrangements must be made so that they can enjoy equal rights such as education, health, employment.
- Radical organizations targeting the Rohingya people with hate speech, which could foment religious and ethnic conflict in the region, must be punished.
- The Myanmar government must end their policy of denying the asset of Rohingya people in Arakan and urgently take a step to resolve the problems.
- Cruelties against Rohingya people must be evaluated within the scope of “crimes committed against humanity” and the necessary sanctions must be applied to the Myanmar State, which resists solution.
- In addition, the peaceful effort of Turkey on the international arena must be supported in order to solve the problem.
If we do not act for the solution of the problems, we cannot prevent today’s victims from being oppressors of the future. If we want peace and trust in the world, we cannot make concessions from the policies to be produced on the basis of justice. We have to do this because we do not want to leave a world to our children where the injustice and cruelty becomes ordinary.
